Friendly Workplace

Job Redesign

Breaking away from traditional fixed job descriptions, Hotel Royal Group decomposes and redesigns work tasks across roles to create positions that better suit mid-to-senior employees — offering flexibility, manageable workloads, and easy-to-learn tasks.

For example, a restaurant server used to handle every step of service alone — from setting tables and seating guests to serving dishes, refilling drinks, billing, and cleaning. The process was complex and physically demanding.

Through job redesign, these tasks are divided into simpler, repetitive, and independent duties such as table setup, guest greeting, clearing dishes, or refilling water. This makes it easier for senior staff to adapt while allowing younger colleagues to focus on more complex work — fostering intergenerational collaboration and teamwork.

Supportive Environment

Flexible Working Hours

Flexible schedules are available across departments. For example, at Hotel Royal Chiaohsi, restaurant staff can choose from shifts such as 06:30–10:30, 07:00–11:00, or 07:30–11:30; while housekeeping offers 10:30–14:30, 11:00–15:00, and 11:30–15:30 options.
"Active Senior Partner" can select tasks that match their strengths and preferred hours — such as working three days a week with a morning shift in the restaurant and an afternoon shift in housekeeping. This flexibility allows senior employees to plan around their physical needs and family life, creating a more balanced and adaptable work schedule.

Through job redesign, tasks suitable for senior workers — repetitive, simple, and independently manageable — such as table setting, guest seating, clearing, or refilling water, have been defined. This helps senior staff adapt easily while younger colleagues focus on more complex duties, fostering collaboration across generations.

Balanced Lifestyle

Diverse Learning Programs

Hotel Royal' s "Active Senior Partner" enjoy a range of benefits based on their roles, including festive bonuses, employee trips, complimentary stays across the group, language learning subsidies, health checkups, nurse consultations, free meals, and birthday vouchers.

The hotels also regularly host courses such as wine tasting, smartphone photography, posture and etiquette, muscle relaxation, language training, F&B sales techniques, and guided exhibition tours — enriching the workplace experience and expanding lifelong learning opportunities for senior employees.

Respectful Collaboration

Intergenerational Mentorship

To help senior employees adapt smoothly, each "Active Senior Partner" is paired with a dedicated mentor who provides on-the-job training and assists in resolving workplace or interpersonal issues.

For all team members — from management and supervisors to front-line staff — Hotel Royal offers training sessions on topics such as demographic trends, senior-friendly workplace standards, recruitment techniques for mature candidates, inclusive team building, and practical case sharing in job redesign. These programs align strategic direction with daily operations, fostering a workplace where every generation can thrive together.

Q: What do you like most about this job?

A: What I like most is that my coworkers are incredibly kind. When I first started, they were always patient in teaching and ready to help whenever I had questions. Guests also often show care and encouragement—sometimes reminding us to drink more water in the summer—which really warms my heart.

Q: How has the company helped you adapt and settle into work life?

A: To better support overseas students, the hotel hired an Indonesian housekeeping staff member who, in addition to her regular duties, takes time to chat, share meals, and provide emotional support—like a mother figure to us here in Taiwan. The company also provides dormitory housing, which helps us focus on our work without worrying about accommodation.

Q: What would you say to other overseas students coming to Taiwan for study or internships?

A: Taiwan is a safe and welcoming place to study and work. I believe everyone can adapt easily and truly enjoy their experience here!

Q: Why did you choose to join Hotel Royal?

A: When I was selecting an internship, Hotel Royal stood out as a well-known and trusted brand. Royal Inn happened to be recruiting front desk interns, and since I enjoy interacting with people, I was particularly drawn to this position and decided to apply.

Q: What has been the most rewarding moment in your work?

A: I major in Applied Japanese, so this job gives me the chance to communicate directly with many Japanese guests—putting my studies into practice. Every day at the front desk brings new challenges, and whenever I successfully assist a guest and see their gratitude, it fills me with a great sense of accomplishment.

Q: What do you like most about working at Hotel Royal?

A: For young people just entering the workforce, Hotel Royal offers a very friendly environment. Supervisors and colleagues are approachable—neither overprotective nor overly strict—and, most importantly, they treat interns as full members of the team. Hotel Royal Hsinchu

Service Center

Chang Hsin-Yu

Previously employed in the airline and semiconductor industries, Hsin-Yu became a full-time mother after marriage, dedicating herself to caring for a child who required early intervention. The challenges of parenthood and family responsibilities brought tremendous emotional strain, even leading to bouts of depression. After three years in a relatively closed environment, she began to miss her working self and sought a way to regain balance—deciding to reenter the workforce.

Hear Hsin-Yu's Story at Hotel Royal | Click to Read More

Q: Why did you choose to join Hotel Royal?

A: Returning to the workforce was not easy—many full-time jobs had strict schedules that didn't suit my family needs. The position at Hotel Royal offered flexible hours and understanding colleagues who accommodated my shift preferences. Working at the service center allows me to interact with both local and international guests, putting my language and hospitality skills from past jobs to good use.

Q: What have you gained from this experience?

A: My family has been very supportive of my decision. Having a few hours of work each day helps me reset mentally and temporarily step away from the pressures of caregiving. More importantly, I've regained confidence and a sense of accomplishment. The income may not be large, but the feeling of buying a cup of coffee with my own earnings is truly rewarding.

Q: What message would you share with mothers returning to work or others reentering the workforce?

A: Those of us reentering the job market actually have our strengths—we're more experienced in handling people and reading situations with empathy. Giving yourself the chance to step back into a social environment broadens your perspective and brings emotional balance, which also helps foster a more harmonious family life.
