Official Notice

Dear Valued Guest,

Recently, fraudulent activities have been on the rise, with tactics constantly evolving. Scammers often impersonate Hotel Royal Group or its affiliated hotels through phone calls, letters, text messages, and social media, spreading false information such as prize winnings, refunds, or booking errors, in an attempt to trick you into clicking links, providing personal information, or performing financial transactions.

Please stay alert and never follow instructions from suspicious messages. If in doubt, we recommend that you:

  • Call the National Police Agency Anti-Fraud Hotline at 165 (in Taiwan) or +886 165 (from overseas)
  • Or contact the customer service hotline of any Hotel Royal Group property for verification

Common recent scam tactics – please stay vigilant

  1. Fake prize/activity notifications: Claiming you can enjoy a free stay after completing a survey or participating in an activity, but requiring payment or booking in advance to be eligible
  2. Fake booking error/refund notices: Impersonating the hotel to say your booking information is incorrect or overcharged, and instructing you to re-enter your card details or follow refund steps
  3. Third-party platform scams: Sending fraudulent messages via Booking.com or Agoda.com, requesting you to change your payment method or pay via cryptocurrency
  4. ATM or online banking transfers: Claiming a system error resulted in overcharges and directing you to make a transfer via ATM or online banking
  5. Impersonating bank customer service: Asking for the customer service number on the back of your credit card, then calling you while pretending to be bank staff to guide you into transferring funds
  6. Luring with discounts or cashback offers: Using member rewards, top-up bonuses, ticket group purchases, or similar promotions to commit fraud
  7. Fake hacker attack alerts: Claiming your booking data was hacked, requiring a refund and asking for your account or card information
  8. Social media direct message scams: Pretending to be the hotel’s official page or customer service, requesting your SMS verification code
  9. Fake QR codes/phishing websites: Sending fake QR codes or fraudulent links to steal your credit card and ID information
  10. Fake limited-time promotions: Advertising limited-time offers or survey giveaways that require payment or placing an order before receiving the prize

Three “No’s” to avoid fraud:

  1. Do not click on unknown links
  2. Do not provide account numbers, passwords, or credit card details
  3. Do not follow financial instructions from unknown sources
