As travel shifts from sightseeing to deep experiences, Hotel Royal Group has promoted the Royal Explorer project since 2022. Through city curation, we present a unique travel theme each year, creating proposals that combine local culture with life observations. This year, Royal Explorer centers on Awaken, launching nine deep routes from traditional markets and old street life to city operations and local terroir. Routes include The Place Taichung (Mail Center Delivery Site), The Place Tainan (Retro Gentleman Old-School Salon), Hotel Royal-Nikko Taipei (Taipei Metro Control Center), The Place Nankang (Taipei Flower Market Auction), and Hotel Royal Chiaohsi (Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market). From now until October 31, Royal Explorer packages are sold exclusively on the official website. Prices for two start at NT$3,299 per night. Please check the website for details and dates.
CEO Shen Fang-cheng shares: "Modern people need an interesting travel philosophy and viewpoints on cities. In 2025, we invite travelers to depart at dawn. With Awaken as the angle, we re-examine the connection between the city and locals."
The city operates before people wake up. Hotel Royal-Nikko Taipei partners with TRTC for the Taipei Metro Control Center itinerary, entering the 24-hour transport hub to hear about train dispatching and emergency responses. The trip includes a Chifeng Street tour led by the local chief to experience old district memories. Staying at Hotel Royal-Nikko Taipei Nan-hsi or Lin-sen starts at NT$3,299 for two with breakfast and the tour.
The Place Taichung partners with Chunghwa Post to show morning mail operations, including manual sorting and encoding. See the process from bagging to departure. Follow the route to Shenji New Village for coffee, then visit the 24-hour Yungsheng Market to feel local life. Stay for two starts from NT$3,800 per night with the tour and breakfast.
Markets represent the morning warmth. Hotel Royal Chiaohsi visits the Yilan Fruit and Vegetable Market to see produce distribution. Enjoy breakfast in front of the Cheng Huang Temple. Finally, harvest vegetables in fields irrigated by hot springs. The Place Nankang invites guests to the Taipei Flower Market to see the flower auction. After the tour, create floral art with a professional instructor using seasonal flowers. Stay for two starts from NT$8,000 per night with the tour and breakfast.
Daily life in old streets reflects city culture. The Place Tainan joins curator Tseng Ching-chun for the Retro Gentleman Old-School Salon to experience Taiwanese barber rituals like cucumber masking and shaving.
