Focusing on the substantial needs of modern travelers for spiritual nourishment, Hotel Royal Group accepted a donation of nearly 1,400 copies of Jingsi Aphorisms titled Compassion: Always Joyful, Peaceful Everywhere from Tzu Chi volunteers. The donation originated from the long-term promotion by Jingsi Books and Cafe to introduce Jingsi Aphorisms into hotels. The goal is that every traveler can find the power of peace between the lines through good words and beautiful landscape photos. The donation ceremony was held at The Place Taipei, with Hotel Royal Group CEO Winston Shen receiving the books. This publication embodies the compassion concept of Dharma Master Cheng Yen through text, accompanied by photos taken by international master photographer Mark Lee Ping-Bing during his travels. It hopes to accompany hotel guests and help them find inner peace when stepping into their rooms. These books will be placed in the guest rooms and public areas of 10 hotels under Hotel Royal Group, hoping to convey blessings to visiting global travelers.
Hotel Royal Group CEO Winston Shen has long advocated the importance of reading for travel. CEO Shen stated that travel for modern people easily turns into a simple consumer action, relying solely on social platforms for photos and check-ins, often missing the true face of a place. He believes that genuine walking and reading can allow people to go beyond words and deeply understand local history, products, and humanistic spirit. He emphasized that when travelers browse books in the hotel space, they can construct a leisurely life scene for themselves, and reading is an important way to develop the multiverse of their own lives.
To allow travelers to enjoy rich spiritual nourishment during their vacations, Hotel Royal Group has long been creating reading environments in its hotels. For example, the 24-Hour Library at Hotel Royal Chiaohsi has been established for over fifteen years. It holds over 1,500 selected books covering literature and local culture, along with an independent picture book area for children, making it highly popular among families. Hotel Royal Beitou has set up an exclusive PURE Space on the 11th floor, featuring a bright and comfortable reading area carefully displaying diverse selections. With a faint fragrance of books filling the air, travelers can slow down their pace here, immerse themselves in reading time, and savor the rare tranquility after enjoying premium hot springs or health treatments.
The Place Taipei collaborated with independent bookstore Le Ballon Rouge to launch the Harbor Residency Project, creating a 24-hour Eternal Bookstore in the hotel lobby with themed selections focusing on travel, art, design, and food. In addition, the Book Stay NOVA sustainability project was launched, upcycling retired eco-friendly towels from the hotel into cloth bookmarks and allocating project revenue to support a shared reading fund for children in rural areas, scattering the seeds of reading to more corners. Located in eastern Taiwan, Hotel Royal Chihpen integrates its reading space into natural mountain and forest designs. With diverse selections combining local terroir and literary depth, travelers arriving at the Taitung Rift Valley can form deeper connections with local culture through books.
