Side by Side, Back on the Same Field
In 2026, the Royal Cup arrives in Taipei, with Hotel Royal-Nikko Taipei as host, welcoming colleagues from across the group back together.
Familiar teams meet again, joined by new faces taking part for the first time. After gathering, warming up and checking positions, the whistle blows. Colleagues usually scattered across different cities turn their attention to the teammates beside them and see the match through together.
Team events reveal chemistry quickly. A clean handoff, a timely response to a sudden change—small moments can shape what happens next.
The tension carries to the sidelines. Those waiting to play follow the action closely; when a teammate pulls off a good move, the whole team erupts. Back in the rest area, a few quick words are enough to reset for the next match.
Beyond the competition, the venue, schedule, check-in, supplies, player care and on-site documentation all have to connect smoothly at the same time.
What remains goes far beyond the scores: the wait before gathering, last-minute reminders, post-game conversations and cheers from the sidelines. The Royal Cup happens once a year, but these moments tend to stay with us much longer.
The Royal Cup Began with a Basketball Game
The story of the Royal Cup begins in 2006.
That year, Hotel Royal Chihpen and Hotel Royal Chiaohsi held a friendly basketball game during a quieter season for hospitality, giving colleagues from the two hotels a chance to step away from work and get to know one another through sport.
Basketball came first. As more hotels joined, the friendly match between two properties gradually grew into an annual gathering.
By 2010, the event had expanded to include teams from Taipei, Hsinchu, Chiaohsi and Chihpen. In 2012, it officially became the Royal Cup Games, with competitions growing beyond basketball to tug-of-war, dodgeball and other team events.
Since then, the hotels have taken turns hosting, carrying the Royal Cup from city to city. What began as a gathering between two hotels has become an annual memory shared across Hotel Royal.
Together Stronger, Together We Play
In 2023, Hotel Royal Group launched Together Stronger, extending its care for colleagues at work and in life through an inclusive workplace, well-being, career development, local culture and community participation.
Together We Play carries forward Hotel Royal's long tradition of building connections through sport.
Away from familiar workplaces, colleagues from different hotels, departments and roles meet one another differently on the field. Through practice, discussion and competition, teamwork offers a new way to understand the people beside them.
The Royal Cup brings familiar workplace collaboration onto the field. Uniforms give way to team jerseys and cheers, and the same chemistry takes on a different form.
Wear the Team, Show the Hotel
At the Royal Cup, teamwear is the quickest way to spot one another across the field. Each hotel works with its own colors, graphics and details, bringing a little of its character into the arena. Once the jerseys go on, each team has its own expression—and a shared memory of this year.
A Team's Character
Side by Side Is How Hotel Royal Works
The Royal Cup puts everyday collaboration on the field, where it becomes easier to see.
A complete hotel stay depends on front desk, housekeeping, dining, kitchen, engineering and support teams working in sequence. Many details are checked and handed from one team to the next before they ever reach the traveler.
It feels much like a team event. Each position has its own task, while keeping an eye on whether the next handoff will land smoothly. Covering for one another and solving problems together gradually becomes second nature.
That sense of standing side by side lives well beyond the games; it is part of how Hotel Royal colleagues work together every day.
Until We Meet Again
Since a friendly basketball game in 2006, the Royal Cup has traveled through many cities and taken on many forms of competition.
Host hotels pass the baton, and new colleagues join year after year. Look back a few years later and the jerseys, flags and venues may have changed, yet the sight of everyone standing together feels familiar.
In 2026, everyone meets again in Taipei. When the games end, colleagues return to their own cities, hotels and roles.
Until the next Royal Cup, the chemistry from the field stays with the places where everyone works together.

The Games End. The Chemistry Stays.
The Royal Cup comes to an end each year, while collaboration at work carries on. Back in their own cities and roles, the handoffs, support and trust seen on the field return to the things colleagues accomplish together each day. Until the next gathering, that shared understanding remains.
