A Travel Proposal from a Local Perspective
Since 2022, every midsummer, Hotel Royal shares a local travel perspective worth experiencing in the cities where we are located, rediscovering the city from different angles.
The so-called local perspective means exploring and feeling the city like a local. It is about more than just visiting popular attractions; it involves experiencing the atmosphere of the streets, listening to the sounds of daily life, and understanding the local cultural context.
Travel becomes a deep connection with the city, allowing one to feel its true face and uniqueness.
Through such exploration, travelers can rediscover the city and feel the pulse and warmth of the land, making the travel experience more profound and the memories of the island more vivid.
❮ About the Annual Theme ❯ In 2025, we awaken in the early morning of the city, following the footsteps of postal carriers to witness the most authentic moments of city operations at the Taichung Mail Processing Center.

We try to bring more imagination to the role of a hotel, going beyond providing accommodation services.
Travel reflects the current state of life. Therefore, we hope to provide more than just standardized spaces; we aim to be an entrance that connects with local life, allowing every journey to bring back a different understanding of living.
❮ About the Annual Theme ❯ In 2024, we proposed Breaking the Boundaries, stepping out of the travel comfort zone to lead travelers in challenging themselves, starting from Taipei 101 and hiking via the Danlan Old Trail to Hotel Royal Chiaoxi.

Since the first Hotel Royal in 1977, we have maintained a sincere and friendly Taiwanese Style Service. This brand sentiment of coexisting with the land ensures that our service retains its unique significance amidst changing consumer generations.
This spirit of connecting with the land has led us to begin regional revitalization and promote Royal Explorer, searching for new travel values together with travelers.
❮ About the Annual Theme ❯ In 2023, under the theme Go Against the Flow, we invited eight local guides to lead travelers into non-mainstream routes, such as a kitchen that only collects waste and a barbershop without haircutting services.

2025 City Awakening Project
Morning is the best time to observe a city. Compared to day or night, the morning is without excessive decoration, presenting the most authentic face of a city.
In 2025, Royal Explorer takes Awakening as its theme. Before the daily hustle begins, we walk into the city morning. From the bustle of markets and the scent of tea gardens to the memories of old streets; from salon rituals and mail delivery routines to the coordination of flower markets and metros. Only in the morning can the truest face of the city be seen.

In 2024, Royal Explorer takes Breaking the Boundaries as its theme, responding to the post-pandemic era. When the world restarts, we choose to go beyond. From urban trekking, diving certification, and tribal survival to opera transformation, old town walks, and tech decoding. When travel becomes a copy-paste routine, we choose to overturn existing formulas and start an adventure without presets.

2023 Reverse Walkers
In the first year after the pandemic, while the world hurried to return to normalcy and accelerate forward, we chose to look back, walk sideways, and turn into the city crevices — this courage to move against the mainstream is what we call Going Against the Flow.
In 2023, Royal Explorer took Going Against the Flow as its theme. Partnering with eight local guides, we redesigned travel routes that avoid tourist hotspots and move opposite to the crowds. From a barbershop that does not cut hair and a kitchen that only cooks recycled food to hand-painted cinema billboards and daily life hidden in military village markets, we lead travelers into the authentic connection between people and the land.

As the world moves forward in haste, we choose to go against the crowds and walk back into the deeper stories of the city.
Travel Planning
Led by eight guides from fields such as music, history, design, and entrepreneurship, we explore scenery not seen by the mainstream. The journey spans six cities, from hot spring military villages, old cinemas, and roadside barbershops to circular kitchens and tea towns, leading travelers against the tourist flow back to the origin of city stories.

During the most difficult period of the pandemic, with cities closed and life at a standstill, travel became a distant luxury. Yet, in those days of pressure and uncertainty, we discovered that what matters more than the far-off is the comforting familiarity right beside us.
Thus, Royal Explorer was born —
A travel proposal born from the pandemic for the purpose of healing. Hotel Royal Group combined years of city observation with KKday to help travelers regain their perception of the everyday and trust in life. From the human warmth of Keelung night fish markets to the slow pace of Taitung old streets; from the artistic daily life in Taichung old houses to the ancient scents in Hsinchu markets — this is a journey that seeks neither distance nor speed, but simply to let the heart rest.
