CERAMIC ART
Ceramic artist Chu Fang-Yi draws forms from everyday objects and the urban landscape, breaking them apart, reshaping them and assembling them anew as a language of clay.
Created for The Place Taichung, Pictographic Taichung begins with the traveler's eye, distilling the city's architecture, landscape and everyday impressions into a series of three-dimensional forms.
The work takes cues from some of Taichung's most recognizable landmarks, including Luce Memorial Chapel, the National Taichung Theater and the Green River waterfront. Their distinctive silhouettes and lines remain visible, while proportions, curves and textures are reworked until familiar scenes hover somewhere between representation and abstraction. Like a city map composed in ceramics, the work leaves behind a visual memory distinctly rooted in Taichung.

Beginning in September 2026, the Taiwan Tourism Administration introduces the Weekday Accommodation Subsidy under the 2026 Taiwan Travel Subsidy program. 2026 Taiwan Travel Subsidy Weekday Accommodation Subsidy
The Weekday Accommodation Subsidy under the 2026 Taiwan Travel Subsidy program runs from September 1 to November 30. Eligible travelers staying at participating licensed accommodations may receive a room-rate discount in accordance with the program rules.
